A guest at the Agape House homeless shelter on Cerrillos Road died Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the property, Urban Alchemy spokesperson Jess Montejano confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Few details were available about the incident Tuesday. Montejano did not provide the name of the man who died but confirmed he died of a drug overdose.

Anthony Edwards, another guest at the shelter, said the man was found dead in a portable toilet in the shelter's parking lot, which recently was transformed into an outdoor space for shelter guests and others to congregate.

Edwards said he believed the man was an immigrant from Mexico and two were not well-acquainted because the man spoke limited English.

Still, Edwards said, he was saddened by the man's death.
