SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — There have been at least four arrests in the past year by Savannah Police officers that were captured on video and went viral online, sparking debate on use of force policies.
WSAV visited the Savannah Police Department (SPD) headquarters to find out how officers are trained to handle potentially lethal situations. Cpl. John Tokos taught a use of force course and allowed the WSAV crew to run through the "Shoot/Don't Shoot" simulator.
The simulation presents realistic, intense scenarios where the officer must make a split second decision on how to respond.
