NEWPORT, Ky. —

One person is dead after a scooter and vehicle collided in the middle of an intersection in Newport.

It happened Tuesday morning around 9:56 a.m. when Newport Police officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Monmouth Street and New Linden Road. Advertisement

Police say a vehicle, while turning onto New Linden Road from Monmouth Street, and a person on a scooter traveling north collided at the intersection.

The scooter rider was taken to the University of Cincinnati Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their identity has not been released at this time.

Police say video footage from the area corroborated the events.

The investigation is ongoing.
