GROVES, Texas — A Groves family is asking for the communities help after they lost everything to a devastating house fire Sunday evening.
The Groves Fire Department responded around 5:30 p.m. to the 2900 block of First Avenue, where firefighters found a single-story home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the center of the house according to Fire Chief Lance Billeaud.
Earl Nordhagen lived at the home with his sister, he says the fire started in the garage.
Luckily, Nordhagen says he saw the smoke when he came home from the store and was able to get all three occupants out of the home without injury.
By the time first responders were able to get out to the scene, the home was already a total loss.
"We finally got everybody out and everything. Was just waiting on the fire department.
