ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — An Orange County sheriff’s deputy was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash involving a Dodge pickup truck and an Orange County Sheriff’s Office patrol car on Briarcliff Road.
Authorities said the crash happened when the vehicles collided, though details about how the wreck occurred were not immediately available. SheriffBobby Smith told 12News that the deputy was taken to St. Elizabeth with non-life threatening injuries. It is unclear if anyone from the pickup truck was taken to a hospital.
The patrol vehicle involved in the wreck was a purple unit specifically used for the sheriff’s office domestic violence response program.
The Texas Department of Pub;ic Safety is investigating the crash.
