SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - It’s an unimaginable moment for parents: the death of a baby.

A group of volunteers at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s is helping parents going through that grief send their littlest sons and daughters home in a beautiful gown.

“When I study the wedding dress, I like to recreate the dress. So this particular gown had this empire waist and had the buttons on the back, so I recreated the dress in miniature.” Connie Guenthner enjoys sewing . An art form not many possess today, Guenthner spends her time creating a first and final outfit for Siouxland’s littlest.

“Angel gowns are for the babies who do not survive, and they come in various sizes,” explained Guenthner. “The smallest one I make is 7 1/2 inches long.”
