MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A Jamaican national is facing charges in connection with the shootout following an attempted gas station robbery in Mount Vernon on Friday, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.
Jamaire Robertson was charged with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery and Hobbs Act robbery, prosecutors announced.
According to court documents, Robertson and an associate violently robbed a gas station attendant on Mount Vernon Avenue around 5:29 a.m. and stole around $500-600 in cash.
NYPD reportedly observed the suspects fleeing the gas station and attempted to approach Roberterson, who allegedly opened fire on them before discarding his gun and a sweatshirt he wore during the robbery, prose
