An explosion in Lawrence County caused damage to several businesses early Tuesday.
Post-Gazette news partner KDKA reported that the explosion happened in Ellwood City around 12:15 a.m. at a former school building at 600 Mount Vernon Drive that had been converted to house businesses.
Ellwood City Fire Chief Rick Myers told KDKA that at least seven fire crews responded to the explosion and he called it a "catastrophic disaster.”
According to KDKA, several businesses operate in the building where the explosion occurred, including a brewery, salon, tattoo parlor, law office and a gym.
The owner of the affected building also owns the brewery inside called The Time Brewpub. The business was devastated by the blast, KDKA reported.
