MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio -- The Middleburg Heights Recreation Center will host its annual Dog Swim Sept. 13, giving pets and their owners a special day at the pool.
The event has become a popular end-of-summer tradition, offering dogs the rare chance to splash around in the city’s outdoor pool before it closes for the season.
Recreation Director Mark Elliot said the day is about more than just swimming.
“Our pets are part of the family,” Elliot said. “Yes, we play with them in the yard and we take them for walks, but a day at the pool is a ‘special day’ out for both the dogs and the owners.”
The event is split into two sessions, with small dogs under 40 pounds swimming from 11 a.m. to noon and large dogs over 40 pounds swimming from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
“There are a few things we requir
