The Governor’s Office has been in talks with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other state agencies about clearing the homeless from bridge underpasses, rights of ways and other state-owned properties in Tulsa — an effort that could begin within the next week, according to multiple sources familiar with the operation.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to discuss the matter publicly.

The Governor's Office did not respond directly Tuesday when asked whether the state intends to clear the homeless from state properties in the city but indicated such a move is possible.

"I've had numerous conversations with Mayor (Monroe) Nichols about public safety and the homeless issue in Tulsa," Gov. Kevin Stitt said in a statem
