HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - On the heels of a Top 5 driest August, there are a few rain events heading our way. If all goes well, your garden will accumulate a half inch of rain by Thursday night.

In the short term, the desert-like clime of August and the first few days of September will be invaded by more humid air starting Wednesday into Thursday.

Thursday is the more prominent day for a downpour. Given the long dry spell, slick roads are likely as the rains act to slicken roads that have been grimed up by oil and grease.

Once rains pass through by late Thursday, the air will dry out and heat up for Football Friday. Then by then a 50-50 weekend will ensue with Saturday showers followed by Sunday sunshine. The weekend air will cool down with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s.
