LADSON, S.C. (WCSC) - Charleston County deputies are searching for a suspect after a man was hit in the head with a hammer on Monday morning.

Deputies responded to U.S. Highway 78 and Midview Drive at approximately 11:30 a.m. for a report that someone had been hit in the head with a hammer, an incident report said.

Deputies spoke with the victim, who was covered in blood and reportedly had a large lump on the side of his head near his temple.

The incident report said the victim was struggling to speak when sharing details of the attack, and his friend had to help fill in the details of what happened.
