WAIANAE, Hawaii (Island News) – Fire crews respond to an active brush fire reported on Oahu’s west side on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD), a brush fire was reported up the side of the mountain near Kapaekahi St.
The incident was reported around 12:36 p.m. and was confirmed to be 90% contained as of 4:50 p.m.
As of 1:33 p.m. HFD crews started to fight the brush fire from a helicopter after it was reported that it had spread to the top of the mountain.
The fire was reported to be 50% contained at 2:39 p.m. then 75% at 3:30 p.m.
HFD closed the incident at 6:40 p.m. and reported that the fire burned 42 acres.
The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) also responded to Kapaekahi St. and Kukai Place.
No other information has been released at this time.
