NORFOLK, Va. — Thousands of angry Dominion Energy customers wrote public comments to state representatives sitting on the State Corporate Commission (SCC) on Tuesday about a recent Dominion Energy proposal that would raise customers' rates by an additional $21 over the next two years.
The overwhelming majority criticized the move. Dozens called directly into the hearing and told commissioners they are already living paycheck to paycheck. Those who called in ranged from students to military service members.
"I don't know how I or any of my neighbors will be able to afford this," said one caller. "We are already stretched thin, and I just don't know what I'll do."
