ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man was sentenced Tuesday on drug and weapon charges. Samir Princeton, 21, was sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years probation.

He was sentenced after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, multiple counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Officials said the charges stem from two 2024 arrests. In January, he was found with a loaded Glock. In February, he was found with several drugs, including fentanyl, oxycodone pills, methamphetamine, and crack cocaine.

Princeton is also awaiting trial in the 2023 death of Tyrone Staley. The fatal shooting happened in May at Village Barber and Beauty on Second Avenue. Princeton previously pleaded not guilty in that case on a five-count
