STATEHOOD RECOGNITION FOOLISH

Re “Canada holding firm on recognizing Palestinian statehood even as Germany wavers” (Bryan Passifiume, Aug. 26): Mark Carney does not speak for me, I don’t think he speaks for all Canadians. Recognizing Palestinian statehood at this point in time is foolhardy and reckless. He’s rewarding Hamas for the Oct. 7, 2023 massacre and is supporting terrorists. Carney should heed the advice of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and former Canadian diplomat and Macdonald-Laurier Institute senior fellow Alan Kessel. PM Carney, do the right thing and do not support the initiative that surrenders to violence and rewards terror.
