Locals react to bayfront construction complicating water access

The Bayfront Parkway in Erie has been closed for construction, complicating access to the waterfront and potentially impacting local businesses.

The closure, which began less than 24 hours ago, may last over a year, making access to the waterfront via State Street impossible. Local businesses are preparing for potential negative impacts, and the Erie Downtown Partnership is ready to support them.

Dave Tamulonis, Events and Marketing Manager at Erie Downtown Partnership, expressed concerns about the impacts of the construction. "I do expect that this will affect business and people's desire to go down there," he said.

Joe Sherry, a visitor to Erie, noted that tourists might be deterred by the construction. "I think people out of town would be deterred for sure" he said.
