DENVER (KDVR) — The pilot who was killed when two small planes collided in mid-air on Sunday has been identified.

Kristen Morris, 25, of Denver, was identified by the Morgan County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday as the pilot who was killed in the Sunday crash.

A Cessna 172 and an Extra Flugzeugbau EA300 collided Sunday morning while trying to land at Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Both planes had two people aboard, and both crashed and caught fire, according to the sheriff's office.

On Tuesday, the sheriff's office said the planes collided at the north end of the airport's runway.

Both occupants of the Cessna suffered minor injuries in the crash. One occupant of the other plane was taken to a hospital, while Morris was pronounced dead at the scene
