Framber Valdez had a bad outing against the New York Yankees after their offense rocked him. Valdez, who once dominated the Yankees, couldn’t hold things together, handing the team its first loss in the series.
While MLB fans are used to watching ejections and brawls of late, what they witnessed on Tuesday was something rare. The Astros pitcher surrendered a grand slam to Trent Grisham, allowing the Yankees to win with a 7-1 final score.
Before his pitch, Astros catcher Cesar Salazar asked him to back off the mound. Framber Valdez ignored him and threw a fastball, which Grisham slammed into the stands. Valdez appeared to be frustrated after the grand slam, but continued to pitch as Anthony Volpe stepped up at the plate.
