The Pittsburgh Steelers have cut wide receiver Robert Woods after he requested his release, the team announced. Woods only wants to keep playing football if he is on a 53-man roster, and did not want to do a practice squad stint with the Steelers.

By the end of training camp, Scotty Miller was playing over Woods, and the veteran was clearly on the outside looking in on the Steelers’ wide receiver room.

Woods, 33, spent the last two seasons with the Houston Texans . He had 20 receptions for 203 yards in 2024 under Bobby Slowik.
