Last month, Mounjaro manufacturer Eli Lilly announced it was increasing the list price of the drug by as much as 170 per cent for UK consumers from the start of September. It could mean the cost for those buying the weight-loss drug will increase from £122 to £330 per month for the highest dose, effective 1 September.

Mounjaro is available on the NHS to treat type 2 diabetes and for weight management, but only for people with a BMI of 40 or higher and four weight-related health conditions. For others, Mounjaro can be purchased privately, in supermarkets, chemists, and high-street clinics.
