The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning affecting seven UK areas on Wednesday.

It comes after the UK weather agency had already issued a rain warning for the same day, affecting parts of the south of England.

The thunderstorm warning is set to come into effect at 11am on Wednesday, September 3, and remain in place until 8pm the same day.

It is set to impact parts of the following seven UK areas: East Midlands, East of England, London and south east England, south west England, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire.

Met Office's warning summary reads: " Thunderstorms associated with scattered heavy showers may cause some impacts during Wednesday."
