The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders , a community-owned franchise committed to giving back, formed the Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation six years ago to support amateur sports while speaking to students about the importance of literacy and mental health.
“This province supports this team so much in the good and the bad and the ugly, the least we can do as a team is give back to the community,” said Cindy Fuchs, the foundation’s executive director.
Long snapper Jorgen Hus and about a dozen teammates — including kicker Brett Lauther , receiver Shawn Bane Jr. and defensive tackle Micah Johnson — rotate through appearances in Regina and the province for discussions about bullying, dealing with stress and the importance of looking after themselves physically and psychologically.
