PennDOT has announced its plans to change the Parkway East Squirrel Hill interchange on I-376.

The goal of the Squirrel Hill interchange project is to improve safety and reduce crashes near the existing interchange while enhancing pedestrian access on local streets. Advertisement

CHANGES INCLUDED IN INTERCHANGE PROJECT

The current design, titled Alternative F, includes relocating the Parkway East outbound on-ramp to allow more room to merge prior to the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, mitigating congestion on Beechwood Boulevard.

A longer off-ramp will be built starting west of the Greenfield Bridge, passing under the new eastbound on-ramp. The weave condition between the current interchange ramps will be eliminated by a traffic light on Beechwood Boulevard.
