A quick-moving wildfire has burned homes in a California Gold Rush town settled around 1850 by Chinese miners who were driven out of a nearby camp.

The fire rapidly grew to over 10 square miles, forcing evacuations Tuesday in Chinese Camp Town and surrounding highways.

CalFire reports no immediate injuries or deaths, but the fire was uncontained Wednesday morning.

At least five homes burned in the rural town. Fire officials have requested additional resources, including fire engines and aircraft.

The blaze, known as the 6-5 Fire, was caused by lightning.
