Mitchell’s Jared Vosper and Sebringville’s Don Scott were part of Ontario’s men’s softball team that won gold at the Canada Summer Games.
“It’s exciting,” Vosper, 19, said. “I’m glad to do it with that group of people.”
The team was chosen more than two years ago, Vosper said, and was made up of some of the best U20 players from the area and coached by Scott. For once, they were sharing the same dugout.
“On the field, we were rivals,” he said. “Off the field, we were buddies.
“It felt nice to play with some of those guys. I’m glad I got that chance.”
Vosper, who also earned national U20 silver with Plattsville and U23 bronze with New Hamburg last month, did it all for Team Ontario at the late August tournament in St. John’s, NL. He spent time at first base, second base, all three outf
