PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)– The man who was shot by a Pawtucket police officer after he saw him waving a plastic gun around appeared in court on Wednesday morning for charges stemming from both that and a separate incident.

Sebastian Yidana, 28, was shot in the shoulder by Pawtucket officer Thomas Letourneau, which happened in June.

Yidana is facing felony charges of assault and disorderly conduct related to the shooting.

In addition, Yidana also faced charges from an arrest in February, which he faces three misdemeanor charges from.

Those charges are a simple assault charge, disorderly conduct and vandalism.

Letourneau is currently on leave, pending an investigation from the state’s Attorney General.

Yidana did not enter a plea on the charges.
