Columbia S.C. (WSPA) - The South Carolina Election commission was served a lawsuit and received a restraining order Tuesday night, temporarily preventing it from sharing voter information with the federal government.
Last month the United States Department of Justice requested full voter information including all approximately 3.4 million South Carolina voter's driver's license numbers and last four digits of their social security numbers.
The plaintiff, Dr. Anne Cook, filed an initial complaint on August 28. Cook is represented by Senate Minority Leader, Senator Brad Hutto (D - Orangeburg)'s law office.
In the complaint it said Cook is worried about privacy.
She claims if the South Carolina Election Commission releases the data the D.O.J. requested, it would violate privacy rights und
