WASHINGTON — The House on Wednesday voted down a measure to censure Democratic Rep. LaMonica McIver and remove her from a committee assignment over her role in a tense confrontation with law enforcement at a New Jersey immigration detention center in May. Five Republican members defected and joined all Democrats to kill the resolution. Two other Republicans voted present. That was enough to table the measure.
