OWYHEE COUNTY, Idaho — Skeletal remains were discovered Thursday, Aug. 29, in a historic lodge building during renovation work, prompting an investigation by the Owyhee County Coroner's Office.

The Owyhee County Coroner responded at about 10 a.m. to the Owyhee Lodge #2 building in Silver City after a renovator discovered the two skeletons while preparing the building for a winter watchman, according to the Owyhee County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities stated the renovator found a small, jammed pull-down door while cleaning the upstairs area of the lodge. After opening it, he discovered a black coffin containing a skeleton covered with a black sheet. Behind the coffin, he found a second skeleton.
