SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane Police Department is releasing new details on a SWAT standoff near downtown Spokane.

According to SPD, a burglary was reported Monday morning at a home on West Bismark Avenue in north Spokane. The victim reported his vehicle was broken into. The suspects used a garage door open to get inside the garage and steal multiple guns.

SPD says detectives used nearby security footage and identified a suspect vehicle as a Chevy Impala.

On Tuesday, patrol officers located the vehicle parked outside a home on Lincoln Street and Maxwell Avenue. One of the suspects was identified as 30-year-old Eric Peery. Because the incident involved stealing guns, SWAT was called, and the home was surrounded.

A search warrant was obtained and police recovered multiple guns.
