It took a while, and a lot of media handwringing, but as of Labor Day, we can officially call it—the Song of the Summer 2025 was “Golden” by the anime girl-group trio Huntr/X from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack. On June 18, the song had under 40,000 streams on Spotify. On August 27, it had more than 8 million, and Demon Hunters had become the most-watched film in Netflix history.

The other big surprise this month was, of course, the double-barreled Taylor Swift headlines, with the announcement of October’s Life of a Showgirl album quickly overtaken by news of a future Royal Wedding to Travis Kelce.
