The U.S. Department of the Treasury has released a preliminary list of jobs eligible for the "no tax on tips" deduction enacted via President Donald Trump 's "big beautiful bill."
Both parties floated the idea of "no tax on tips" during the 2024 presidential campaign. Trump's provision allows certain workers to deduct up to $25,000 of "qualified tips" yearly from 2025 through 2028.
The Treasury will publish the "official proposed list" of jobs in the Federal Register, and the public will be able to comment, it said in the announcement. The agency did not specify a timeline.
The agency said it expects this list to be "substantially the same” as the preliminary list.
The preliminary release came about a month before the Oct. 2 occupation list deadline set in the bill.
