Gone in 60 Seconds: Texas’ stay at atop the rankings didn’t make it past Week 1. Likewise for Arch Manning’s 2025 Heisman Trophy hopes. But the saving grace from the Longhorns’ 14-7 season-opening loss at Ohio State is it’s just that — a season-opening loss.

A return to the College Football Playoff (and perhaps even an opening-round bye) is still very much in the cards, though. Especially as the focus of superpowers SEC and Big Ten further intensifies on league play. Texas might even still be the eventual national champion.
