Hamilton Township woman accused of punching officer after brandishing axe during outreach call
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – A welfare check turned violent last week after police say a woman pulled out an axe and later struck an officer in the face before being taken into custody.
On Tuesday, August 26, around 5:30 p.m., officers with the Township of Hamilton Police Department were conducting an outreach initiative along Leipzig Avenue near the racetrack to assist individuals and connect them with resources. Inside a tent on private property, they encountered Shiryle L. Seyler.
According to investigators, Seyler became erratic, began yelling, and brandished an axe at officers. Although she eventually dropped the weapon, police said she struck one of the officers in the face with a closed fist
