However, as of this summer, new technology will assist the Andean as it makes its way toward the Great Lakes.
Boaters and shipping crews travelling through the Iroquois lock – and across most of the seaway – will no longer need to throw a line ashore. A hands-free mooring (HFM) system uses automated equipment to secure vessels, replacing ropes and labour with hydraulic precision.
