YORK, Neb. (KSNB) - More than enough signatures to seek an election regarding the recall of a York County Commissioner have been turned in.
Now, the York County Election/Clerk Office is working to verify the validity of the signatures gathered in the recall of LeRoy Ott, who was appointed to the board to fulfill a vacancy and then elected in the 2024 election cycle to represent District 2.
If enough signatures are found to be valid, meaning they are those of registered voters in District 2, they will certify the petition and a recall election will be held.
York County clerk Mary Melby explained that if enough signatures are verified and the petition results are certified, she will then come to the York County Board of Commissioners to request a special election.
“If all that happens,
