A GOP strategist on Wednesday chided Florida's new plan for vaccines during an interview on CNN.
T.W. Arrighi, the former press secretary for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, joined CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper" to discuss the Trump administration's approach to vaccines and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s handling of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Tapper asked Arrighi to respond to Florida's new plan for vaccines, a policy that seems to echo RFK Jr.'s approach to public health.
Florida's Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo announced earlier in the day that the state would end its vaccine requirements, which ensure children from disadvantaged households receive the same vaccinations as their peers.
"That gives me a bit of pause," Arrighi said. "As I said before about net-positive vaccines, Operation Warp Speed was a tremendous success." Arrighi was referring to the Trump administration's project to develop the COVID-19 vaccine during his first administration.
Arrighi argued that he would support a review of the vaccine table, as long as the results are "backed by science." Even so, Florida's plan seems to take it a step too far.
"A full-scale revoking of it all when a lot of them are successful is probably a bit too foolish," he added.
