YORK, Neb. (KOLN) - One of the most successful K-9 officers in the history of the York County Sheriff’s Department is retiring after six years of service.
It was announced this past weekend how Loki is transitioning to retirement, which will consist of a “well-earned life of rest and relaxation with his family.”
Loki arrived in York County in 2019, coming from the Netherlands. He has worked with his partner, Korey Goplin, since then. Loki has been instrumental in combatting drug trafficking over the years, with the sheriff’s department noting he has been “deployed in hundreds of traffic stops throughout his career, resulting in the seizure of over 10,000 pounds of drugs, over $6 million in drug money, stolen firearms and an abundance of other contraband.”
In 2021, Loki gained national r
