LEWISTON -- On October 25th, 2023, Robert Card, a US Army reservist, opened fire at Just in Time Recreation and Schmengees Bar and Grill in Lewiston.
Nearly two years after the tragedy of the Lewiston mass shooting, over 100 survivors and victim family members have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. federal government, mainly the U.S. Army, for its inaction to stop Maine's deadliest shooting.
The lawsuit argues the army was aware Card was suffering from mental health issues and was warned he would commit a mass shooting.
According to the lawsuit, the army repeatedly violated its own policies and procedures, failing to protect the people of Maine.
