SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- Drivers should plan for slowdowns along I-81 in Syracuse as part of the I-81 Viaduct Project.

The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting drivers to expect periodic rolling slowdown operations, lasting about 5-10 minutes along I-81 northbound and southbound.

The slowdowns will occur between Exit 17 (S Salina Street/Brighton Avenue) and Exit 78 (Onondaga Nation/Nedrow) in Syracuse, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weekdays, beginning Thursday, September 4, and lasting through early October.

The planned slowdowns are to facilitate construction operations as part of the I-81 Viaduct Project.

Drivers on I-481 southbound, near Exit 1 (Brighton Avenue), should also expect delays during these times, as flaggers will be positioned along East Brighton Avenue a
