CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A man was charged on Tuesday night after officials said he allegedly fired shots at Charlotte police officers.

Charlotte police said around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, they responded to an assault with an a deadly weapon call for service on N. Tryon Street in the University City area in Charlotte.

Officials said when officers arrived on scene they found shell casings and heard additional shots being fired.

Police said a witness gave them a description of the suspect and officers continued their search.

Charlotte police said they located a person matching the suspect’s description, later identified as Lance Graham, 36, in the doorway of a hotel.

Officials said as they approached Graham he fired his weapon towards the officers.
