WEST HAVEN, CT. (WFSB) - A man was arrested Wednesday after an investigation into the distribution of fentanyl and crack cocaine in West Haven.

Police say that they started the investigation in July.

The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Daris Best. Three arrest warrants for him were obtained.

Police took him into custody on Wednesday morning. He attempted to flee in a vehicle and struck multiple police cruisers.

He then ran on foot but was apprehended by officers and K9 Gamble.

Police searched Best and his vehicle and found 117 small bags containing a heroin and fentanyl compound, 42 bags of crack cocaine, 30 wax folds containing a heroin and fentanyl compound, multiple cell phones, and $596.
