FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Police in Fort Wayne say the suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation died after crashing while fleeing from police Wednesday morning.

According to a release from the Fort Wayne Police Department , around 7 a.m. on Sept. 3, an FWPD officer was patrolling the area of Lake Avenue and Reed Road on the east side of the city when he reportedly saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe that matched the description of a vehicle that was reported stolen from the city's southeast side.

Just before the officer was about to activate his emergency lights and initiate a traffic stop, police say the driver of the Tahoe suddenly drove through a red light and began to flee eastbound on Lake Avenue.

Eventually, police say the Tahoe collided with another vehicle near the intersection of Lake Avenue
