Wilkinsburg residents are pushing to stop the planned removal of trees in their neighborhood.

“They are some of the most beautiful trees I’ve seen in the Pittsburgh area. They’re big, they’re beautiful, and it’s a shame that they have to cut them down,” said Matt Cillo of Wilkinsburg. “I don’t really understand.”

Stumps and patches of dirt mark the spots where six trees once stood on East End Avenue. Duquesne Light Company removed the trees in July, much to residents’ surprise .
