TYLER, Texas — A Longview barber who was deported and held for months in one of El Salvador’s most notorious prisons despite having no criminal history has been released and reunited with his family.
Francisco Casique, a Venezuelan national with no criminal record, spent over four months in El Salvador’s maximum-security Terrorism Confinement Center after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained and deported him earlier this year .
“I was treated like a terrorist even though I hadn’t committed a crime,” he said.
Casique came to the United States in 2023, living in the country illegally. He worked at Longview’s Hulk’s Barbershop & Beauty Salon.
