The Powerball is now the third largest jackpot ever.

No one matched all six numbers in the Wednesday, Sept. 3 drawing so the jackpot will climb to an estimated $1.7 billion with a cash option of $770.3 million, according to the Powerball website .

That makes it the third largest U.S. lottery jackpot ever, trailing only a $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in 2022 , and a $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot hit in 2023 (see lists below).

It has been 41 Powerball drawings since the jackpot was last won back on May 31 when a California lottery player won $204.5 million Powerball jackpot.
