It took a shootout, but the Ontario Hockey League’s Sudbury Wolves scored a 4-3 win over the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League’s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the McIntyre Arena, on Wednesday night.

The exhibition contest in the home of the NOJHL’s Rock attracted 1,337 fans, the majority of whom were cheering on the Wolves — even though Rouyn-Noranda is almost 80 kilometres closer to Timmins than Sudbury.

While both squads sat out a number of their stars to get a better look at young talent looking to crack their rosters, the lineups featured a number of players who have National Hockey League connections.

Among the Wolves who suited up for the contest were forwards Kieron Walton (Winnipeg Jets), Nathan Villeneuve (Seattle Kraken) and Jan Chovan (Los Angeles Kings), as well as blue-liner
