A long-vacant office building in downtown Calgary has been transformed into housing units, as city officials and developers mark the launch of The Loft — a 56-unit rental project on 4th Avenue S.W.
The conversion transformed more than 55,000 square feet of former office space into studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, ranging in size from 376 to more than 850 square feet.
The Loft marks the fourth completed office conversion under the City of Calgary’s Downtown Development Incentive Program, which was introduced in 2021 as a way to bring life back to a downtown experiencing high vacancy and falling property values.
