An artwork depicting the last days of East Fremantle Oval is on the move.
Marcus Beilby plans to offer his painting “Last game of the East Fremantle Football Club at the East Fremantle oval 2021” for consideration in this year’s Janet Holmes a Court Gallery annual exhibition.
The painting depicts a footy game with the Merv Cowan Grandstand alongside the clubrooms, administrative areas and grassy slopes encircling the central focus of the oval.
Beilby was commissioned by the Town of East Fremantle at an undisclosed cost to create the oil on canvas painting in 2021 to create a commemorative artwork of the Sharks’ association with the oval.
The Sharks were on the road for more than 12 months as they remarkably captured the WAFL premiership flag, playing their home games at the WACA Ground
